In 1967, Richmor founder Mahlon Richards, then a pilot for a corporation in Glens Falls, New York, was flying over Columbia County,?New York in the beautiful Hudson Valley, and saw a small, strategically located airport. It was a short jet or turbo-prop flight from some of the most significant business hubs in the Northeast and New York City. Richards saw an opportunity, and through a lease back arrangement with the corporation, sought to use the downtime of their aircraft to arrange executive charters under the newly incorporated Richmor Aviation. To do this he would need an airport FBO.
