About
Fred joined the faculty of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of North Dakota in 2000 and is currently an Associate Professor. He received his M.S from the Department of Atmospheric Science at the University of Wyoming in 1989; and his B.S. from the School of Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma in 1982. He served as chief meteorologist for Weather Modification; Inc. from 1996 to 1999 in Fargo and as a broadcast meteorologist for KXJB TV-4 from 1999 to 2007. He is also a certificated flight instructor and an active pilot and aircraft owner.
His experience includes undergraduate research at the National Severe Storm Laboratory in Norman; OK and graduate research with the University of Wyoming King Air. He has flown on many research projects with the University of North Dakota’s Cessna Citation II research aircraft both as co-pilot and as flight scientist.
